Experts say title is done

- Liam Bryce

It felt like a decisive day in the Scottish Premiership title race and the pundits certainly thought so.

Even allowing for a surprising cautious note from Ally McCoist, telly’s finest were pretty sure it was game, set and match for Rangers.

Here’s a selection of where some of Scottish football’s biggest names stand on the title race.

ALLY McCOIST

“Being honest, I’m not sure I’d go that far (in saying the league is over).

“If you look at the fixtures then Rangers have got three very difficult f ixtures coming up at Pittodrie, Fir Park and Easter Road.

“I agree it’ll be very, very difficult for Celtic to come back now, but there’s a lot

of foofootball still to be played thisM this MICHAEL season.” STEWART “Best performance from fr Celtic for a while but bu their deficiencies have ha been exploited and Rangers Ra now go from strength str to strength at the top of the table. “Having watched the red card incident a few times, tim Bobby Madden gets it rright. It’s a perfect exa example of Celtic weaknesses nes being exploited. Bitton’s Bitto not a centre-half.”

J JOHN HARTSON

“WWe couldn’t lose today and the players gave eeverything.er I can’t see a way back.”

ANDY WALKER

“The sadness for every Celtic supporter is that it’s the end of January and the league’s gone.

“There is not a chance Celtic can come back from 19 points, albeit with three games in hand.

“The cushion’s too great. I’m sure Rangers might lose a game or two but Celtic won’t win every one.”
