Man by Man

- SCOTT McDERMOTT VASILIS BARKAS

Big pressure going into the game but could have had a cigar out in the first half given Rangers’ lack of chances. Had no chance when McGregor’s deflection flashed past him for winner.

JEREMIE FRIMPONG

Played with a freedom and desire that caused Rangers loads of problems, particularly early on. Bombed up the right flank and pinned Borna Barisic back.

KRIS AJER

Made vital defensive blocks and was reading game well. Question marks over positioning at Nir Bitton’s sending off as he should have been further over to cover.

Was cruising through first hour, justifying Lennon’s decision to start him ahead of Shane Duffy. But made a poor decision to haul down Morelos. Red card changed game.

6 Played a bit deeper than usual in Celtic’s midfield three and was part of a very good first-half display. Off target with a couple of shots and drifted out of it after Bitton red card.

RYAN CHRISTIE CALLUM McGREGOR

Looked calm and composed on Old Firm debut and caused problems playing just off front two. Kept ball well without creating real chances. Sacrificed after red card.

LEIGH GRIFFITHS

He’ll still be wondering how McGregor prevented him from scoring in the first half with a wonder save from curling effort. Lennon had to take him off after Bitton walked.

ODSONNE EDOUARD

Denied by McGregor early on and was a constant threat to Rangers’ backline, giving their centre-backs a tough test.

SUBS: Shane Duffy – on for Griffiths after Bitton was sent off. Could have been red carded for tackle on Ryan Kent, 4; Moi Elyounoussi – replaced Turnbull and fired a volley just over. Couldn’t get into sync with Edouard, 4; Scott Brown – brought on for Soro but couldn’t dictate as Gers kept ball with extra player, 3; Hatem Abd Elhamed – on for Christie late on but no impact, 3;

Tom Rogic – one shot but no time to make impact, 2. Not used: Hazard, Taylor, Ntcham, Ajeti.
