LET’S MAYK SOME CASH!

Thriving Ghiani can get Jenkins’ gelding over the line again

- ■ Joe Punter

Maykir (2.50) can hand out another winning return for punters at Southwell.

John Jenkins’ charge had to be picked up and carried to success by Marco Ghiani when bravely scoring at this venue on New Year’s Day.

However, with not much punishment for that triumph and the opposition no stronger today, there is every chance the five-year-old might go in again to boost the coffers.

NORTONTHORPE BOY (12.50) should get us off to a winning start in the hands of Luke Morris.

Victory at Kempton earlier this week was a nice boost and, although it’s a worry the threeyear- old is tackling this track for the f irst time, the Phil McEntee yard are in good form and he’s prepared to try and defy a penalty.

RAVENSCAR (1.20) was a ready winner here last week and Phil Kirby is bidding to follow up in the two- mi ler.

Ben Curtis will do the steering and there’s no reason to think a repeat performance is beyond reach against a number of the same rivals.

LIFE KNOWLEDGE (2.20) might be worth chancing at a decent price.

Liam Bailey’s horse has won at Southwell before and he might be worth an each-way poke in a weak race after a fair effort on his return from a spell over timber here last time.

In the finale, NICK VEDDER (3.50) is another one looking to repeat success from a week ago for the Robyn Brisland outfit.

The seven-year-old finished with real power when winning over course and distance and that impressive work late in the race makes you confident that he can go close again.

BEAR GHYLLS (2.10) can give trainer Nicky Martin a bit of compensation for The Two Amigos cracking second in the Welsh National if Exeter survives an inspection.
