Joe up for fight

-

FFirm at the top of the table, wwith runaway leaders RRangers out in front.

Lewis is adamant that bbeing runner-up is within ttheir grasp – and says Celtic aand Hibs will be scrapping ffor it as well.

The Dons are currently ffour points behind the PParkhead club who have a ggame in hand.

The top four face each oother in the next 24 hours, wwith Aberdeen taking on RRangers today and Celtic ffacing the Hibees at PParkhead tomorrow night.

Lewis said: “I’m not going tto rule out finishing second, tthat would be silly from the pposition we’re in.

“I don’t want to target sspecific teams, we’ll just ttake it game by game as we aalways do.

“Our focus right now is oon Sunday. We’re halfway tthrough and the season is ttaking shape.

“But it has to be a target ffor us to finish as high up tthe league as possible. And ssecond place is still very aachievable for us at this ppoint in the season.

“We’re not going to write iit off, that’s for sure.

“A Champions League sspot for second place is ccertainly a carrot for every cclub. And third place gets yyou further into the Europa LLeague than it has done in pprevious seasons.

“So that’s there for the tteams in and around it.

“S e c ond pl a c e is ddefinitely there for us if we ccan put a good run of form ttogether and get some ssolid results.

“But the teams around uus like Celtic and Hibs will bbe thinking the exact same tthing as we are.

“They’ll be fighting us for iit until the death.

“Look at the great run LLivingston are on right now aas well, so you can’t write ooff anyone in this league.

“We aren’t singling out tteams to try and catch but ssecond place is certainly up ffor grabs.

“We certainly think it’s aachievable this season.

“And the Champions LLeague aspect of it is big as wwell for clubs like us.”
