Shutout a pain in the Pars

- Alison McConnell

Dunfermline midfielder Fraser Murray admits he would be gut ted if the Championship season is suspended.

SFA chief Ian Maxwell wrote to all Championship clubs on Friday asking whether they had the cash to continue and wants an answer by tomorrow.

Fraser is on loan at the Pars from Hibs this season and is desperate to see clubs in the second tier keep going despite rising Covid cases.

The 21-year- old said: “I would be gutted if it was suspended. We are just getting into the groove and we are in a good position in the league as well.

“It would be gutting to go through that experience again. We went through it all with the first lockdown.

“For the fans as well it would be hard to see football go off again because it is a relief for people’s stress.

“It is not for me to say anything about the testing procedures or how clubs are coping with it but from a football side of things it is about continuing the form

that we are in.” Morton defender Sean McGinty was reluctant to be drawn on the issue following Friday’s goalless draw at home to the Pars.

He said: “It’s down to people higher up.

“I’m just pleased to be back playing football after such a long time.

“We’re getting tested every week and we’ve come back with hardly any at all. Hopefully things will be OK.

“I know Raith had a few positives and their game with Inverness was off. It’s happening down in England so it will happen up here at some point.

“I’m just pleased to be back out there and being back on the pitch.

“It was two or three weeks since we played and we got a positive result.

“At the start of the season to be fourth at this stage we would have bitten your hand off for it.”
