Britney Spears is a step closer to clawing back control of her £46million fortune after winning the latest round of her court fight with her father.

The 39-year- old singer’s legal boost came days after a bombshell documentary about her sparked a #FreeBritney movement backed by fans and celebs.

The star’s dad Jamie has controlled her cash since 2008, when she went into rehab and got psychiatric care following a string of public breakdowns.

Jamie, 68, was made Britney’s conservator under a Californian law used for elderly or infirm people who are incapable of making decisions. Last November she failed in a bid to end his role but a judge made a private wealth management firm co-conservator, ending his sole control.

And on Thursday an LA court shot down Jamie’s challenge to the move – days after the airing of film Framing Britney Spears.

The show told of her rise to fame, her breakdowns and her divorce from Kevin Federline – in which she lost custody of sons Sean and Jayden. It also put a spotlight on her legal fight with Jamie, leading to a flood of support.

Singer Courtney Love tweeted “#FreeBritney”. And Miley Cyrus shouted “We love Britney!” in her Super Bowl performance last Sunday. Campaigners are petitioning the White House to end the conservatorship.

Britney said she will not perform again until Jamie is removed as conservator.
