Scottish Parliament staff have contracted Covid-19, Holyrood’s chief executive has revealed.

David McGill said people working in the upper-basement area have tested positive and are self-isolating.

He claimed it was “very unlikely” members of parliament and other staff would have been in contact with the employees. Business is to continue as scheduled, with the situation being kept under review.

NHS Lothian’s health protection team are working with the Holyrood staff to identify close contacts and some other employees have been advised to stay away and take a Covid-19 test.

McGill said: “I appreciate some staff might feel uneasy at hearing this news. However, I want to reassure you that we are taking a highly proactive and precautionary approach to protect staff.

“The chances that members of parliament and other staff would have been in contact with an affected individual is very low and it’s very unlikely they may have acquired infection from them.”

Hollywood star Nicolas Cage secretly wed for a fifth time – then partied with one of his exes.

The 56- year- old actor married Riko Shibata, 26, in a ceremony at a Las Vegas casino.

Afterwards, the Con Air and Face/Off star held a small celebration attended by his third wife Alice Kim, 36, and their son Kal-El, 15.

Nicolas –worth a reported £18million – met Riko in Japan a year ago. Last year, he revealed on his brother Marc Coppola’s podcast that he had proposed to Riko over FaceTime as they were apart during much of the pandemic.

He also said that he bought her a black diamond engagement ring.

He told Marc: “Her favourite colour is black so she wanted the black gold, and the black diamond.

“I customised and personalised it and I actually sent it to her through FedEx.”

The bride stuck with her favourite colour for her wedding outf i t , wear ing a black handmade Japanese bridal kimono, paired with a bunch of red and yellow flowers.

Nicolas wore a black Tom Ford tuxedo, along with a yellow button-hole f lower to match Riko’s bouquet.

The pair exchanged both Catholic and Shinto vows.

Spea k ing about thei r marriage, he said: “We’re very happy.”

The wedding happened on February 16 but the nuptials only became public yesterday.

The wedding came less than two years af ter Nicolas’s previous marriage to make-up artist Erika Koike.

Their union ended in controversy when the Leaving Las Vegas actor f iled for an annulment after just four days, claiming he was too intoxicated to understand what he was doing.

The star was also previously married to actress Patricia Arquette, 52, from 1995 to 2001.

A year later, he wed Elvis Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie, 53, but their marriage only lasted two years. He then went on to wed waitress Alice in 2004. They divorced in 2016.

Football’s Fo most feared manager ma had to do as he was told after Jason became be the movie’s director. dir

Alex A joked: “It wasn’t that I had a director – it was a dictator.”

The film was made by Trainspotting producer and Bafta winner Andrew Macdonald and Academy Award winner John Battsek.

And they wanted former football agent Jason to take on the role of director after hearing audio interviews he had done with his dad.

Alex said: “I left it entirely up to John and Andrew – choosing a director – and I was prepared to go along with it.

“I thought Jason should have done it in the first place but I never said anything about it.

“When Jason told me he was going to do it, I was absolutely delighted because I know he’s got the talent and I felt much easier and trusted him that it could be done properly. Jason knows me.”

Jason said: “They’d been listening to the audio and I think they thought I was best placed to get the most honest and open content from him. It was a big call from them.

“I felt nervous at first. It was a big responsibility and I’m obviously approaching it from a background of never having directed a film but I felt, if I had the support of the producers and we had the right team, that it was something I could tackle and handle.”

He was backed by the rest of the family. Jason’s twin brother Darren followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming a professional footballer and is now manager of Peterborough United.

As a young player, his father brought Darren through the youth ranks at Manchester United and gave him his first-team debut in 1990. He played 15 first-team games before being transferred.

Alex’s eldest son Mark,

52, is an investment banker.
