It’s Saints Che at long last
Ralph Hasenhuttl breathed a sigh of relief as Southampton final ly picked up three points with a 2-0 win at Sheffield United.
Che Adams’ spectacular strike sealed the deal as Saints ended a run of 10 Premier League matches without a win.
Adams rif led a halfvolley into the top corner in the second-half, ending a run of 16 games without a goal in all competitions.
Boss Hasenhuttl said: “The first win after a long time is always important.
“It was deserved, a good performance. It feels good.”
Saints broke the deadlock when James Ward-Prowse sent Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way from the penalty spot and Blades boss Chris Wilder said: “We didn’ t deser ve anything from the game.”
Conor Coady was left ruining a string of missed Wolves chances as they drew 0- 0 at Aston Villa.
The captain missed two of his own in the second half and said: “I should’ve had two goa l s . I’m massively disappointed.”
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins hit the bar and said: “I couldn’t do much more. I started to celebrate.” Tottenham v Crystal Palace Today, 7.15pm, Sky Sports Sergio Reguilon jokes that Spurs’ defensive solidity has been down to him.
The Spanish full-back, set to face Palace tonight, was asked if he knew the reason for their better form at the back after losing just two goals in five games.
He grinned and said: “Yes, I’m back! I’m joking but we’re in a good moment and have to build on it.
“Now the feeling is we can get into the top four because we have a very good squad. We’ll try to win every match.”
