It’s Saints Che at long last

Ralph Hasenhuttl breathed a sigh of relief as Southampto­n final ly picked up three points with a 2-0 win at Sheffield United.

Che Adams’ spectacula­r strike sealed the deal as Saints ended a run of 10 Premier League matches without a win.

Adams rif led a halfvolley into the top corner in the second-half, ending a run of 16 games without a goal in all competitio­ns.

Boss Hasenhuttl said: “The first win after a long time is always important.

“It was deserved, a good performanc­e. It feels good.”

Saints broke the deadlock when James Ward-Prowse sent Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way from the penalty spot and Blades boss Chris Wilder said: “We didn’ t deser ve anything from the game.”

Conor Coady was left ruining a string of missed Wolves chances as they drew 0- 0 at Aston Villa.

The captain missed two of his own in the second half and said: “I should’ve had two goa l s . I’m massively disappoint­ed.”

“Now the feeling is we can get into the top four because we have a very good squad. We’ll try to win every match.”
