Rangers starlets on move

-

Partick Thistle and Falkirk yesterday raided Rangers in a bid to boost promotion hopes after being given the green light to return.

Jags boss Ian McCall has signed 17-year- old rightback Adam Devine on loan for the rest of the season, with League One set to resume in 13 days’ time.

And the Bairns, who top the league by two points, have borrowed defender Kyle McClelland, 19, until the campaign is finished.

McCall, whose recruit has been capped 11 times by Scotland at Under-16 and U17 level, said: “Adam is a highly-rated young player and I look forward to working with him over the next few months.

“There are a number of positions throughout the squad we are looking to strengthen over the coming weeks.”

Thistle sit fifth, a point

off the play-off places and six shy of Falkirk, as they eye a Championship return at the first attempt.

McClelland has played for Northern Ireland at youth level and Bairns coboss David McCracken said: “He’s a big defender but also good technically.

“We look forward to seeing how he develops over the rest of the season.

“He will bring some great competition to the squad.”

Devine and McClelland were not the only teenagers to depart Auchenhowie yesterday as League Two Brechin took striker Chris McKee, 18, on loan.

City prop up the pile, having scored just five goals in nine league games.

Northern Ireland Under21 frontman McKee arrives until the end of the season and gaffer Michael Paton said: “He’s exactly what we are looking for up front – he’ll bring a lot of energy and quality.

“There was a lot of interest in Chris. We’re delighted he decided Brechin City was a place to come and progress his career.

“It will help us improve our league position.”
