ANGER IN THE CAMP

- ■ Ewan Smith

Dick Campbell ripped into his Arbroath side after they chucked away a two-goal lead to crash to their first defeat this year.

Campbell watched on as an Ayo Obileye double and goals from James Maxwell and Dapo Mebude helped Queens cancel out efforts from Jack Hamilton and Michael McKenna in a six-goal thriller.

Campbell was raging to see Arbroath’s eight game unbeaten run come to an end and the gaffer said: “For the first 25 we were playing like Brazil – but we let them back into it.

“For some reason my players stopped playing. Maybe they have been reading the papers too much and think they are better than they are?

“As you can detect, I’m very angry.

“I don’t think there is much paint left on the wall after my talk with the layers at full-time.”

Arbroath stormed into the lead inside 10 minutes as Bobby Linn cracked a stunning free-kick down off the bar from 20 yards, with Hamilton prodding home.

They doubled their lead in 21 minutes when Euan Easton hauled down Jason Thomson to hand Arbroath a penalty and Michael McKenna sent Rohan Ferguson the wrong way.

But Queens turned the game when Obileye headed in a Rhys McCabe free-kick before Maxwell squeezed home a rebound.

Isaiah Jones then showed tremendous skill to cut into the box and cross for an unmarked Mebude to stroke home.

Allan Johnston’s men completed their win with a close range strike from Obileye and the boss said: “We didn’t start the game well but some of our play after that was excellent.

“We’re delighted to keep winning but we can’t afford to get complacent.”
