Comedian Tim Minchin has accused ticket resale sites of being “cheating scumbags” for hiking seat prices.

The En g l i s h - b or n Australian claims online firms are ripping off fans, artists and producers while the live entertainment industry is “on its knees” because of Covid.

Minchin, best known for his musical comedy, hit out as seats went on sale for his autumn UK tour on Friday.

He tweeted: “Sadly, I have to tweet this every time I put shows on sale.

“Never buy tickets from Viagogo or other resale sites.

“They are cheat ing scumbags. Scalpers. Petty grifters.

“They create nothing and contribute nothing.

“They buy tickets in bulk to increase scarcity, then sell them at hugely inflated prices.

“Our industry is on its knees.”

He also told touts to “get your filthy f***ing fingers away from my fans”.

The 45- year- old said people who genuinely wanted to trade unused tickets should try Twickets instead.

The fan-to-fan site caps a ticket’s resale price at face value to prevent profiteering.

Minchin is well known for stand-up comedy but has released six CDs and is also famous for his acting roles, including in the hit show Californication.

He often focuses his music and comedy on activism, including a song in protest at homophobia in Australia.

There’s nowt as sexy on TV as Yorkshire actor Sean Bean, according to TV fans.

The Lady Chatterley’s Lover hunk was voted the world’s hottest male star aged over 60 thanks to his cragg y looks and gravelly voice.

Sheffield-born Bean, 61, who was in Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings, beat former James Bond Pierce Brosnan, Tom Hanks, Sting and Die Hard’s Bruce Willis.

Harrison Ford, 78, who played screen heroes Indiana Jones and Han Solo, only just made it into the top 10 of wrinkly actors.

Website IllicitEncounters asked 1000 members which male over- 60s stars they found the sexiest.
