Laff so jealous of Davo

- ■ Steven Beacom

Kilmarnock striker Kyle Lafferty has revealed that he is jealous of close pal Steven Davis after watching him pick up another title with Rangers.

The Northern Ireland pair won three Premiership crowns in their first spells at Ibrox.

But Laf f left emptyhanded after his second stint while Davo has just helped Gers to their 55th crown.

Rugby Park new boy Lafferty said: “I am slightly jealous of Davo to be honest, getting his hands on the trophy again.

“Davo is 36 now and he still dictates the play and makes the game look so easy.

“He has definitely got better with age.

“Rangers have definitely deserved the title.

“They have been the best team in Scotland this season and Davo has been the focal point of the team, which has made it even more exciting for a fan like myself.

“I am delighted that Rangers have finally got their hands on 55 and stopped 10-in-a-row, which was an important factor.”

Lafferty is enjoying life at Killie after gaffer Tommy Wright brought him back to Scotland from Italian side Reggina last month.

The hitman, 33, added: “Tommy’s good. He has a lot of trust in me and I’m delighted to be rewarding him with goals.

“I’m happy. I’m settled and close to my family – 30 miles down the road from my house – so it ticks a lot of the boxes I was looking for coming back to the UK.”

Lafferty has netted three goals in four games for Killie and said: “It’s always nice to score goals.

“When I came in they needed someone to pick the team up and score goals, to try and keep them in the league.

“So far I am contributing and as long as that continues we will be okay.”
