Been there, done that.. got the job
Lady Jean goes back in time for pics that launched career
Supermodel Lady Jean Campbell has stepped back in time to recreate the first modelling shoot she carried out – aged just four years old.
When fashion brand Boden was looking for a youngster to show off its childrenswear range, they could never have guessed the girl they chose 20 years ago would go on to become one of the world’s most sought-after models.
The fashion house, a favourite of Kate Middleton, shot a series of photos of young Lady Jean running through the woods and heather- clad moorland at her family’s 42,000-acre Cawdor Estate, near Nairn. Now, 20 years on, she is the lead model for a nenew archive-inspired cocollection brought out by Boden to mark their 30t30th anniversary.
SheS has been photogg raphedr st r i d ing throthrough the same moors and woodland and even posposing in front of the samsame ancient tree.
LaLady Jean, who was crowcrowned Model of the YeaYear at the Scot t ish FashFashion Awards in 2014, saidsaid: “I loved modelling for MMini Boden.
“BaBack then I never imagimagined I would still be doing it but I feel so lucky I am.”
BodBoden said: “Back in the day, we cast now- supermodel Jean Campbell to pose for our Mini catalogue. This year she’s back as the face of our 30th campaign.
“That first shoot with Jean, then aged four, was in the Highlands. This year we returned to exactly the same spot and even found the same tree to pose under – after quite a few hours of searching.”
A video ad to go with the 30th anniversary collection features footage of Lady Jean splashing through a river, driving through the countryside, sitting in the open window of a stylish barn and even lounging on a picnic rug with her pet dachshund, Minky.
The Boden website shows images of Lady Jean, 24, photographed in a range of outfits, alongside images of her taken for the company at the same locations as a child.
The pictures show the model in Cawdor in 2021 and, aged four, for Mini Boden autumn/winter 2002.
The model, famed for her long blonde hair, is the daughter of architect Colin Campbell, 7th Earl Cawdor, and Lady Isabella Stanhope, a former British Vogue editor. She has modelled for fashion labels including Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu and Chanel.
In the early days of her modelling career she underwent two major hip surgeries, which left her on crutches for months and she needed to relearn how to walk in heels.
Lady Jean told a podcast by celeb make-up artist Wendy Rowe: “For my first modelling job – and my second – I was on crutches as I’d had my pelvis restructured but thankfully for the jobs I was sitting down.”
