De Mazzaro (4.20) can get us our money back after a week of waiting at Hamilton.

After the highlights of the three-day Western Meeting at Ayr, the Scottish racing bandwagon rolls up to Lanarkshire for the next couple of days with seven races to get stuck into next to the M74.

De Mazzaro was in the east of the country seven days ago when we had the cash on at Musselburgh and it was heartbreak.

Tristan Davidson’s nag made most of the running and looked to have slipped the field until collared in the dying strides by Three Castles.

Davidson is a smart cookie and, with a stiffer track here, the drop back a couple of furlongs should be ideal for De Mazzaro.

Last week’s effort shows the seven-year-old is still in splendid heart and we can get recompense up that punishing hill at Hamilton.

The meeting gets underway with a couple of small-field events and the fillies’ handicap looks wide open for VOICE OF WISDOM (2.20) to shout the loudest.

Simon and Ed Crisford have picked this opportunity over the one-mile trip and it appears a smart move with only three rivals fighting for the prize.

Voice of Wisdom backed up a win at Bath with a close second at Chelmsford and this is a great chance to get back into the winners’ enclosure.

It’s interesting that Oisin Murphy makes the long trek north for the only Flat action of the afternoon having spent yesterday at Newbury with the jockeys’ title chase pushing riders to head across the country in search of success.

The Irishman wouldn’t be coming up if there weren’t good chances to strike and he has Urban Violet going against Voice of Wisdom.

Some 35 minutes earlier, Murphy will get aboard EVOCATIVE SPARK (1.45) in the two-year-old contest and he can upset the likely market leaders Qitaal and Sharvara.

Hugo Palmer’s charge was a nice winner when last sighted down at Ffos Las and the clever handler has opted to head here for the next run.

Murphy has also been booked to ride WATER OF LEITH (3.20) for Rebecca Menzies and MEWS HOUSE (3.50) for Grant Tuer.

Keep a close eye on the market moves for both of those contenders as any shift could be significant.

There is a jumping card at Plumpton with another seven races to get involved in. VALENTINE’S TURF (4.40) is an interesting recruit for the new season for the sharp yard of Christian Williams.

Formerly with Bernard Llewellyn, the six-year-old is heading straight to Sussex for his stable debut after a runner-up finish when last on the track back in May.

There is racing in Ireland at Listowel with the Kerry Group Chase the best on the card. However, it’s a shame only three runners have turned up.

For a bet, look to SAY GOODBYE (2.00). Gordon Elliott is keen to get winners on the board quickly after his ban and the mare is at the bottom of the weights with Jordan Gainford removing another five pounds from the saddle.
