Gunners dig deep for win

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta praised his players for rolling up their sleeves and digging out a 1- 0 win at Burnley.

Martin Odegaard’s first- half free- kick gave Arsenal the edge as they held on for a hard-fought win to further ease the pressure on Arteta.

The Gunners were grateful referee Anthony Taylor reversed his decision to award Burnley a second-half penalty after consulting VAR.

Arteta said: “It was a really hard-fought victory in a place where you have to be ready for a fight.

“We have players whose strength isn’t this kind of game but they adapted.”

Scotland’s John McGinn came off as a concussion sub as Aston Villa scored three goals in nine minutes to end Everton’s unbeaten

start to the season. Matty Cash got the first with a thunderous drive before Toffees defender Lucas Digne scored an own-goal.

Sarr buried Josh King’s cutback and slotted home a rebound to keep Norwich bottom on zero points.
