South coast’s a roast

- Scott McDermott

House hunting, beach walking and soaking up the south-coast sun.

That’s how Ryan Christie has spent his first week in Bournemouth – as well as the simple matter of play i n g in thre e Championship fixtures with his new club.

But even though it’s early days after his £2.5million move from Celtic, the Scotland midfielder is lapping up the lifestyle away from Glasgow’s goldfish bowl.

Although hailing from the Highlands, Christie admits that getting used to temperatures topping 30C degree on a daily basis might take a bit of getting used to.

However, he can’t wait to show friends and family around his new home.

He said: “The south coast is a bit different to Glasgow, that’s for sure.

“I can feel mysel f

burning up when I go for a walk along the beach!

“It’s a bit of a change in temperature. In my first few days of training, I thought that it was absolutely roasting.

“But boys were coming up to me and saying they couldn’t believe I’d gone down there and the weather was bad!

“I was saying: ‘Are you having a laugh?’

“I told them it was probably minus degrees up north where I come from in the Highlands already.

“But seriously, that was just one of the many factors in coming to a place like Bournemouth. It ’ s a beautiful place to live.

“We’re in a hotel right now but have been looking at apartments and we hope to move in soon.

“I feel I’m settling in already and everyone at the club has been helpful –they’ve made it easy.

“I’m sure hal f the population of Inverness will be down visiting during the winter months.”
