I’m feline naughty

DJ Cat reveals celebs’ secrets

- Heather Greenaway

When it comes to spilling the beans on life as one of the country’s favourite radio stars, DJ Cat Harvey has got it licked.

From throwing water over Susan Boyle, Wet Wet Wet drummer Tommy Cunningham playing bongos on her bum, duetting with Olly Murs at Hampden and being accused of having a one-night stand with a Rolling Stone, Cat’s life both on and off the airwaves is worthy of a sitcom.

Her book Cat’s Out the Bag is so deliciously naughty, no one’s secrets are safe – not least those of her eccentric on- air husband Ewen Cameron.

The journalist, who presents Ewen & Cat at Breakfast on Clyde 2 and Forth 1, said: “I’m not into celebrities and I think asking them silly questions and putting them at ease has led to cracking interviews and shenanigans.

“I nominated Susan Boyle to do the ice bucket challenge and her friend got in touch and said she would d love it.it I ended up doing a duet withw her on the piano in the living room of her Blackburn Black home.

“AnotherAn night, I ended up doing a duet with Olly Murs s on mmy kazoo in his dressing ng room at Hampden. My kazoo azoo album is actually gathering speed as I’ve also duetted with The Proclaimers.

“CelebsC come into the studio and end up stayingstay on after their shot. James McAvoy was starving when he dropped by and I savedsave the day with a packet of salt and vinegarvin Squares and Kelly Jones, from Stereophonics,Ster stayed behind and chatted aboutabo the night he, Noel Gallagher and PaulPau Weller drank Jack Daniels in a park.

“Sharleen Spiteri is fab. She always gives EwenEw pelters. Amy Macdonald is one of my favourites. I’ve known her since she

waswa 17 and we’ve become friends. She does my holiday cover on the show. I’ve been on many a raucous night out with her and have danced on her kitchen table at 4am on a couple of occasions. Then there’s Tommy Cunningham, from Wet Wet Wet, who came on the show and played my a**e like the bongos.”

But Cat’s strangest celebrity liaison was one which never happened. She said: “I woke up after an awards ceremony to 42 missed calls from my dad. Ewen had told listeners I had been spotted at the bar with Ronnie Wood, insinuatinginsinuati I had spent the night with him. The phone lines went crazy. TTo this day, I don’t know whether whet my dad real ly believed belie I had got it on with a RollingR Stone. I didn’t even eve meet Ronnie that night nig but I kind of wish I had just for the tales.”

Cat, C 49, wrote the book during dur lockdown and it’s dedicated dedi to her late dad Bobby. Bobby Every penny from thehe th salessale will be donated to charityarity cha CCash for Kids.

Ewen is . He’s terrified

Not got the fear. I have only do

I have stories, nd photos a videos

SheS saidsaid: “It’s part memoir, part diarydidia withit hopefully plenty of amamusing anecdotes to make you smile.

“IIt ’ s l it t le stor ies about workiworking with Ewen, radio tales, behind-behind- the- scenes fun, hi larious encounterencounter s wi th celebr i t ie s , fun interaction with our wonderful listeners and everything in between.”

The former Sunday Mail columnist added: “Ewen is terrified. He’s got the fear. Not only do I have stories, I have photos and videos – but I’m saving all those.”

The book, which is available at Waterstones and Amazon, went to print on August 24 – the day her Scottish fiddle champion dad lost his 10-year battle with prostate cancer.

Cat said: “I’m gutted he didn’t get to see it but he lived every moment of it with me. He was my inspiration, hero and best friend.”
