Graham: It’s not spot on

- Gordon Parks

Graham Alexander claimed Motherwell again fell victim to an Old Firm penalty blindspot.

The Well boss was raging at what he felt was a blatant handball by Boli Bolingol in the second half that was waved away by the ref.

It left him once again claiming rough justice against the big two.

He believed his side were robbed of a penalty against Rangers three weeks ago and insists VAR would have backed up his case.

He said: “It was a blatant penalty. I could tell by the reaction of the players.

“We were in the box, ready to get an opportunity to score and the lad just slapped it away.

“Getting a penalty against one of the big boys is rare for Motherwell.

“I’m learning quickly that it’s easy to give a penalty against us but very difficult to give one to us.

“I definitely think VAR would have helped us. We’d have had a spot-kick at Rangers and again here.

“At the minute we are on the wrong end of those.

“At a critical part of the game it gives us a lifeline if we score the penalty.”

Alexander admits his side faded af ter an encouraging start and praised former Well player David Turnbull for a goal out of the top drawer.

He said: “It was a difficult game but we started well. We were in the ascendancy and pressed from the front.

“We had a couple of opportunities from that press that we had to take.

“They score from a counter-attack when we were out of possession. We could have had a free-kick in the build up but it was a good finish from the lad.

“The second goal was quality from a player everyone knows at Well and he showed why he left for all that money.”
