ROUND UP

- SCOTTISH CUP

Clydebank boss Gordon Moffat hailed his “greatest day in football” after watching the Bankies beat League Two opponents Elgin City 2-1 to book their spot in the third round of the Scottish Cup.

Liam McGonigle fired them ahead in 14 minutes after he was played in by Lee Gallacher.

Elgin piled on the pressure and twice should have levelled but Bankies keeper Jamie Donnelly was on hand to thwart the danger.

Captain Nicky Little put the 200- plus travelling crowd in dreamland when he doubled their lead on 67 minutes as he squeezed the ball past Tom McHale.

The home side set up a nervy finish as Brian Cameron netted with 11 minutes remaining but Moffat’s men held on to set up a third-round tie at home to Clyde.

Moffat said: “It feels amazing. It’s about enjoying this feeling.

“I have said it a lot recently but the supporters deserve a day like that after everything they have been through and you could see how much it meant to so many people with those scenes.

“It is certainly my biggest achievement as a manager but it is right up there as one of my greatest days in football.”

Ten-man Albion Rovers were 1-0 winners over Brora Rangers in their replay at Cliftonhill.

Rovers were reduced to 10 men in 72 minutes when striker Kyle Doherty was shown a straight red card for alleged violent conduct towards Brora keeper Joe Malin.

But Albion scored the only goal of the game with nine minutes remaining when David Wilson slammed home from the spot after Corey O’Donnell had been fouled.

Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale came from behind to beat 10-man Dunbar United 2-1.

Jamie Devlin gave Dunbar the lead but was sent off between two strikes from Sandy Cunningham.

Dan Orsi scored the winner as Dalbeattie Star edged out Highland League side Rothes 1- 0.

Ryan McRitchie thought he had given Rothes the lead but the flag was raised for offside.

And it was Orsi who grabbed the winner nine minutes from time to seal victory for Star.
