Livi turned up at Celtic’s front door on Halloween Eve and performed their old bogey-team routine once again.

And a frighteningly bad penalty kick from Giorgos Giakoumakis at the death cost the Hoops a chance to go top of the Premiership.

In 12 games against Livi, Celtic have won just four. And David Martindale’s side were at it again as they put the fear into Ange Postecoglou’s side at Parkhead.

Despite that, when Ayo Obileye conceded a stupid spot-kick in injury time, Giakoumakis had a golden chance to win the points.

Instead, the Greek striker tamely shot at keeper Max Stryjek, who comfortably saved to earn a draw that prevented Celtic from leapfrogging Old Firm rivals Rangers to top the table.

But Hoops ace Jota defended spot- kick sinner Giakoumakis and insisted Celts need to get better at fighting sides who pack their defence against them.

He said: “When a team like Celtic doesn’t win, it’s not a good moment. But it’s not just because of Giorgos we drew the game.

“We are a team and you have to work together, fight together to win together. We played against a team who defended with 11 men behind the ball and that makes it harder to score.

“We just had to find the spaces but they kept on getting closer and closer and it was difficult for us.

“It was frustrating at the end because we had a chance to win the game, for sure.

“But a moment doesn’t describe a game. We should’ve created more chances during the match.

“I remember a few other games like this – against a back five with their wingers defending as fullbacks. A lot of other teams try to do this. The way they play, we just have to respect that. We have to find our best to score the goal.

“Hopefully we can recharge our batteries and go to Hungary (to face Ferencvaros in the Europa group) and just win the game.”

Postecoglou tinkered with his line-up, clearly with one eye on the Europa League clash. Kyogo Furuhashi was benched with Giakoumakis drafted in.

Livi got their first league win of the campaign against the Hoops in September at Almondvale and Martindale’s game- plan didn’t differ too much from that 1- 0 victory two months ago.
