Conte: Wake up and earn your Spurs

- Everton v Tottenham Today, 2pm

Antonio Conte has told his Tottenham players they must give him

100 per cent in every waking moment.

The new Spurs boss has no time for those not willing to work their socks off for him.

And ahead of their trip to face Everton today, he has already made it clear he will demand they give their all from the moment they open their eyes each morning until they close them at night.

He said: “Maybe my best element as a coach is to improve players. It is important the players make themselves totally available because they must want to improve.

“Every player must think, ‘I wake up at the start of the day to improve myself’ and has to do this until he goes to sleep.

“Especially if you have a talent, you have to work. It’s a pity when you see a good player that is not exploiting 100 per cent their possibility, their capacity.” One of those players who will do well to heed the Italian’s advice is Dele Alli.

As a midfielder himself, Conte was no slouch and Alli, if he’s clever, will tap into every drop of knowledge his new boss can impart.

Conte added: “Dele is a player who has great potential – I will give him the possibility to show his talent.

“The door is open for every single player. The most important thing is that they show me they deserve to have the chance to play.”

Richarlison insists he can score the goals to ensure Everton don’t miss the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin too much.

The Brazilian striker said: “Dominic is sorely missed but I like that responsibility and I hope to score goals and help us get back to winning ways.”
