We’ll be crowd pleasers
Fran Alonso has urged Celtic fans to come out in force for their crunch derby with Rangers today.
The Hoops can knock Gers off top spot in the league if Alonso masterminds a fifth successive Old Firm triumph.
The match kicks off after Ange Postecoglou’s men’s side have finished their clash with Dundee at Dens Park and women’s boss Alonso is hoping a big crowd can cheer his side on to victory.
The Spaniard said: “With these games being so hard – and meaning so much for both clubs – anything extra that fans can give us is very important.
“So I would say if you can, come along and support us and get us f lying like you always do.
“I’m delighted we can have our support. So we hope we can put on a performance that will make them proud, ideally with a lot of people in the stadium.”
It’s a three-way scrap for the title again this season with Gers two points ahead of Celtic and Glasgow City at the summit.
Games between the title rivals have been tight and Ibrox gaffer Malky Thomson has warned his players that any lapse in concentration could be fatal as they seek instant revenge for last weekend’s Old Firm cup KO.
He said: “When we come to play Celtic or City, they are stronger than the rest in the league and it comes down to small margins.
“It’s about making sure that when we do create a chance in the bigger games, we take it.
“In the Celtic v Rangers games, any thing can happen, it doesn’t matter how well you have prepared.
“So you have to be really on it, the concentration levels need to be high and you need hunger and desire.
“You really need to be craving the win.”
Champions Glasgow City could end the weekend back in top spot if Gers slip up and they win their game away to Hibs.
