in behind, I know to try to find him with a through ball.

“When he drops off, I know what he’s doing in terms of linking the play.

“He’s a great player and a really good finisher when he gets the ball in the right areas.

“You can see that by the amount of goals he’s got for us already.

“And hopefully he can keep doing even more of that for the remainder of the season.

“I don’t know what other clubs were in for him in the summer but we’re really happy that he chose to come here because he’s been a great pick-up for us.

“Hopefully he carries it on and maybe does even better.”

While the form of Furuhashi has been good for his teammates and the club, it hasn’t been for Albian Ajeti.

The former West Ham striker appears to be out of the picture at Parkhead under boss Postecoglou.

He last started a game in September and has had to be content with fleeting run-outs

as a sub since then. And now Switzerland boss Murat Yakin admits he dumped the Celtic outcast f rom his squad because of his “situation” at Parkhead.

Ajeti was recalled by the Swiss for last month’s qualifiers, along with Rangers striker Cedric Itten, who is on loan at Bundesliga strugglers Greuther Furth.

But both have been axed for the crucial World Cup doubleheader against Italy and Lithuania.

Yakin said: “In my view, I look at each player’s individual performances and situation before I decide to name my squad.

“And that’s why in this instance I have chosen not to include Albian Ajeti and Cedric Itten.

“My choices for these games are Noah Okafor of Red Bull Salzburg and Andi Zeqiri of Augsburg instead.”

Ajeti was an unused sub last month as the Swiss beat Ian Baraclough’s Northern Ireland and Lithuania, while Itten came on in both games but failed to shine.
