Billy: Caley on writing us off

-

Bil ly Mckay has warned Inverness Caley Thistle’s Championship rivals to write them off at their peril.

The Northern Irish striker fired a double to seal the points in Friday night’s televised 2-1 win at strugglers Queen of the South.

That fired Billy Dodds’ side back into the chase for automatic promotion after a run of five games without a win saw them lose momentum.

Mckay missed out on a hat-trick when he failed to find the net with a late header and also saw a fabulous shot smack off the bar.

But that didn’t stop Caley returning to winning ways after that blip and Mckay now plans to push on.

He said: “We seem to be made out as underdogs and everyone writes us off.

“But that suits us – we like that and relish that.

“We know people don’t like coming to us in the Highlands but we relish the long trips on the road.”

Mckay underlined that with his third goal in two games at the end of one of the longest tr ips in the div ision to Dumfries.

He added: “I probably should’ve had a hat-trick.

“It was so close with the

header then the shot off the bar. But I will take two goals and the three points.

“The win is the most important thing and with it being a Friday game we put a bit of pressure back on Kilmarnock ahead of their game with Arbroath.

“We could’ve had a few more goals but the most important thing is the win.

“Our next league game is a big one with Kilmarnock at home and it is going to be massive for both of us.

“Now we need to be ruthless in both boxes and I hope to keep my scoring run going too after making it three in two games.”
