City are on edge of glory

-

Glasgow City star Tyler Dodds hopes new coach Eileen Gleeson’s eye for detail can give them the edge in a tense title race.

Champions City head to Motherwell today in the SWPL and sit just two points behind leaders Rangers.

It’s their first league game under new gaffer Gleeson after she kicked off her reign with a 3- 0 cup semi-final win over Spartans.

English winger Dodds is loving working with Gleeson and has been impressed with her new coach’s meticulous preparation.

Dodds said: “It has been really good and structured.

“We have analysis before every session which is really beneficial because you don’t actually realise where you could be going wrong.

“It’s broken down step by step. It’s been helpful and you can tel l she’s real ly intel l igent so we’l l see how it goes for the rest of the season.”

Rangers head across Glasgow for a TV clash with Partick Thistle and are out to build on their derby win over Celtic last time out.

Defender Demi Vance admits the break for the cup semis was unwelcome as Gers wanted to get back in action straight away.

But she’s confident of returning to action with a win after some extra time on the training ground.

Vance told Rangers TV: “We’ve found a wee bit of a rhythmandtheperformance against Celtic was one of our best of the season.

“We’ve been bui lding on that (in training) so hopefully it will all come back together.”

That derby loss left Celtic five points behind Gers but the Hoops bounced back by beating Hibs in the other cup semi last weekend.

Fran Alonso’s side face Aberdeen today and the Celtic coach said: “We came back from the Rangers defeat in the best possible way by beating another top team.

“We now have to go for the points against Aberdeen.”
