Man by Man

- MICHAEL GANNON

ZANDER CLARK

The big keeper would have been surprised to see Celtic with so much of the ball and not have to make many saves. Played a part in goal when he sliced ball out.

7 Was the last line of defence against Jota and did well at times. Rode out storm and grew in stature as game wore on. Only time looked in trouble was at goal.

JAMES BROWN LIAM GORDON

7 Refused to get spooked by Kyogo’s movement as he stood his ground and made sure Saints stayed in their shape. Anchored the back three brilliantly.

6 Superb. Hurled himself in harm’s way to get in the way of potential danger a few times. Content to sit deep and deal with any crosses that came his way.

JAMIE McCART SHAUN ROONEY

6 Had an unenviable task of having to keep tabs with Jota and found it hard going at times. Hung tough though and started to pose more of a threat at back post.

7 Did a lot of chasing during whirlwind Celtic start but came in to the game and had a couple of decent pops at goal. His stunning block denied Abada.

CRAIG BRYSON MURRAY DAVIDSON

Was the glue that held the rigid Saints side together. Burst a gut to make sure Celts didn’t get a second on the ball.

6 Worked tirelessly to chase down ball and shut down angles. It was working a treat and it was a major blow when he limped off.

DAVID WOTHERSPOON CALLUM BOOTH

6 Another who put in almighty shift. It wasn’t glamorous at times but it made life difficult for the Parkhead men. Was key any time Saints tried to strike on the break.

MICHAEL O’HALLORAN

A more disciplined and defensive shift than he’d have liked. Provided occasional out-ball but there wasn’t a lot coming his way.

CHRIS KANE

Started as spear at top but forced to drop deep to stop Bitton. Gradually moved up and wasn’t far off before the break.
