John Philliben (Stirling Albion): Won the Scottish Cup with Motherwell in 1991. Also played for Doncaster and Cambridge United. David Rennie (Leicester City): Made over 400 starts for Leeds, Bristol City, Birmingham, Coventry, Northampto­n and Peterborou­gh. Brian Rice (Hibs): Signed for Forest in 1985 and made 115 appearance­s for Brian Clough before joining Falkirk.

Paul McStay (Celtic): The Maestro made 678 appearance­s for Hoops, winning three titles, four Scottish Cups, a League Cup plus 76 caps. Dave Bowman (Hearts): Joined Coventry then Dundee United, also playing in the UEFA Cup Final. Lifted the Scottish Cup for United in 1994 and picked up six full Scotland caps. Pat Nevin (Clyde): Joined Chelsea in 1983, winning the Second Division in his first season.

Signed for Everton, playing in the 1989 FA Cup final defeat to Liverpool, Tranmere Rovers, Kilmarnock and Motherwell. Capped 28 times. Gary McGinnis (Celtic): Didn’t make the first team at Parkhead but went on to star for Dundee United and St Johnstone.

SUBS: Ian Westwater (Hearts): Played for Dunfermlin­e and Falkirk. Billy Livingston­e (Wolves): 13 games for Wolves before injury ended his career at Derby. Sammy McGivern (Kilmarnock): Went on to play for Falkirk, Ayr and Dumbarton. Jim Dobbin (Celtic): 12 starts for the Hoops before a long, nomadic career in England. Jim McInally (Celtic): Joined Forest, Coventry then Dundee United, playing in the UEFA Cup Final and winning the Scottish Cup.
