Paul LINFIELD took over as Premiership leaders, as they staged an outstanding comeback against COLERAINE.

The Blues can now emerge as champions by avoiding defeat in their final match at Cliftonville.

“We always knew we would have to win all our matches and Saturday is no different,” said Blues skipper, Jamie Mulgrew.

“Cliftonville have beaten us twice this season. For anyone to suggest it’s a given for us to go and win would be wrong.”

James McLaughlin opened for the Bannsiders before Aaron Burns levelled with a curling left-footed shot from distance.

Paul Smyth put the Blues ahead before Burns’ converted a penalty, awarded when Smyth was tripped.

Andy Waterworth then scored twice, on 74 and 84 minutes.

DUNGANNON SWIFTS had an afternoon to remember with a 4-0 drubbing of CARRICK RANGERS.

Within 20 minutes Ryan Harpur had claimed his brace, while Andy Mitchell and Fra Brennan also got on the score sheet, ensuring the grapple was done and dusted before half-time.

Swifts are now one step closer to securing a Europa League play-off as they stay in seventh.

BUT CLIFTONVILLE are only edging Ballymena out of fourth place by goal difference, after a 3-1 defeat to GLENAVON.

Less than 24 hours after manager Gerard Lyttle resigned to take over at Sligo Rovers, the Reds found themselves 2-0 down to Andy Hall’s double, before Martin Donnelly hit a rare goal to pull one back.

Andy McGrory made it

3-1 with two minutes left.

GLENTORAN gave their fans cause to smile with a 3-0 win over doomed PORTADOWN.

Curtis Allan struck either side of Eric Foley’s goal on the stroke of half-time to seal all three points.
