Mum Dee promises snaps soon as ‘Junior’ weighs in at 8lb 14oz
CONOR McGregor is “over the moon” at becoming dad to a baby boy named after him.
The UFC superstar’s girlfriend Dee Devlin, 28, gave birth to their 8lb 14oz son on Friday night in Dublin. Conor’s father Tony told the Sunday Mirror the couple are “absolutely delighted”.
Dee posted on Facebook yesterday: “Please Welcome to the world Conor Jack McGregor. Photos coming soon, I promise.”
BABY Conor McGregor Junior has arrived fit and healthy into the world.
The first child of Ireland’s UFC superstar and his partner Dee Devlin was born at 8pm on Friday at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin.
Named Conor Jack McGregor, the little lad weighed 8lbs 14oz.
Mother and baby are both said to be doing well.
Dee, 28, yesterday thanked fans for their support and promised to release pictures of the newborn soon.
She posted on Facebook: “Please Welcome to the world Conor Jack McGregor born in the Coombe Maternity Hospital on 5th May 2017. Weight 8lb 14oz.
“Thank you everyone for their support. Love you all. Photos coming soon, I promise.”
Delighted grandad Tony McGregor told the Sunday Mirror: “There’s great news for the McGregors and the Devlins.
“The whole family are absolutely delighted. We’ve experienced this recently with our eldest daughter and there’s no better feeling in the world than being a grandparent.
“The parents are absolutely over the moon and everyone is healthy.”
Beaming Tony told of his family’s joy at the moment Conor Jr came into the world.
He said: “The grandparents from both sides of the family were there when she came out of the delivery ward. We got to hold our grandchild during the first hour of his life.
“It’s an amazing feeling. Being a grandparent is the best thing that can happen. Conor and Dee are absolutely thrilled.”
The couple teased news of the birth yesterday by setting up an Instagram account for their new arrival.
A verified profile under the name Conor McGregor Jr appeared on the social media site to the excitement of McGregor’s fans. The page only follows Conor and Dee, while its followers include McGregor’s management company Paradigm and manager Audie Attar.
Around lunchtime yesterday Tony broke the news on his Facebook page with a post titled “Delivery for McGregors/Devlins.” The Dublin hero, 28, revealed late last year that the couple were expecting their first child together – and that he was “crapping his jocks” at the idea of becoming a father. Speaking after his lightweight championship victory over Eddie Alvarez, the Notorious said: “I’m gonna be a daddy early
next year. I’m crapping my jocks. I just don’t even know what way to take it.
“I’m gonna just have this baby, take a little bit of time and see what way I feel after.”
Conor has not fought in the UFC since his historic victory over Eddie Alvarez last November in order to look after Dee. UFC boss Dana White said at the time: “His girl gets super stressed out when he fights. He doesn’t want her having any of that stress while she’s pregnant. He’s good.
“He should take time off. He’s been fighting non-stop. Nothing wrong with him taking time off.” But now Conor Jr has arrived, the Notorious could be set to get back in the ring, with a showdown against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather rumoured.
Conor’s sister Aoife voiced her confidence in Dee as a mum. She wrote on social media: “You are going to be an amazing mother. We cannot wait to meet our new nephew.”
In a recent interview with GQ magazine, the Notorious admitted he was fearful for his baby’s safety in public and warned fans not to mob him in the street. He said: “I’m not trying to bring a kid into that.
“If someone comes near me when I have my kid in my hands, like the way they come near me now, looking for pictures, someone’s gonna be badly hurt.”
He added that he does not want his son to be part of any celebrity circus.
He said: “I don’t want any celebritytype s***, I hate all that. I don’t want my family to be like that.”
