Chocs up 10p as Brexit vote bites
CHOCOLATE lovers face a price rise of 20 per cent on their favourite treats as import costs surge because of Brexit plans.
Bars including Snickers, Double Decker, Galaxy, Mars, Dairy Milk and Bounty will cost 10p more from this summer.
The rise is because the Pound’s fall in value has made ingredients such as cocoa beans and sugar more expensive.
Other sweets will shrink in size to keep the same price tag. Bags of sweets sold under the One Pounders brand are dropping from 180g to 150g.
Price-marked bars from Mars and Cadbury, mainly sold at convenience stores and corner shops, will rise from 50p to 60p.
Cadbury said: “Our priority is to keep brands affordable. Increasing prices is a last resort.”
