It’s a Willy won’t he situation

- BY SIMON MULLOCK

WILLY CABALLERO is hoping that his patience with Pep Guardiola will be rewarded with a new Manchester City contract.

The Argentine keeper has revealed that City will not inform him if he has a future at the Etihad until after today’s final game of the season at Watford.

Cabellero is one of seven City players heading out of contract as things stand.

Pablo Zabaleta is leaving, and Jesus Navas and Tosin Adarabioyo are mulling over new offers – but Yaya Toure, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna have also been left in limbo.

Caballero, 35, said: “I don’t know if a meeting is scheduled. That’s for my agent. If I was a young player, I would probably feel more anxious, but I am an experienced player. I want to stay because I am really happy and so are my family.

“It’s been my best season at City. I started behind Claudio Bravo and Joe Hart and now I am No.1.

“Now it is important to finish third so that we get in the Champions League without having to play two qualifying games.”
