Brendan’s Invince-Trebles!

- BY GORDON WADDELL

BRENDAN RODGERS last night christened his unbeaten heroes the Invince-trebles as he celebrated making Celtic history.

The ecstatic Hoops boss joined legends Jock Stein and Martin O’Neill as the men who have brought trebles back to Glasgow’s East End.

And after a staggering 47-game, three trophy season without a single defeat, he vowed he’s just getting started.

Tom Rogic’s injury-time winner took the roof off Hampden as the Premiership and Betfred Cup winners came from behind to book their place in the record books.

Cancelling out Jonny Hayes’ early opener with a quickifire Stuart Armstrong strike, Celtic turned the screw on a heartbroken Dons side for the final 15 minutes before finally breaking them at the death.

And as their 25,000 fans lapped up their first treble in 16 years, Rodgers beamed: “We’re elated. It was a very tough game and to win it like we did was special.

“And I’ve just heard a new word - the Invincetrebles!

“It’s a monumental achievement. It’s been a pleasure to be up here, the league has been fantastic, competitive, we’ve had to be at our best which is why I push the players in training every day.

“We’ve come through a league campaign unbeaten and this was always going to be tough.

“Derek McInness has done a brilliant job with Aberdeen, he’d made them competitive, and we had to really respond. We had to show why we’re champions.”

Asked how it felt to be on the same pantheon as

Stein and O’Neill in his first season with the club, he confessed: “It’s a huge honour given what they achieved.”
