Blistering hot chilli to spice up UK meals
IF you like your meals as hot as this weekend’s scorching temperatures, you’re in for a treat.
Tesco is now selling a UK-grown Carolina Reaper – the world’s hottest chilli pepper, according to the Guinness Book Of Records.
It’s so spicy that the supermarket advises customers not to touch it without wearing gloves.
The chilli pepper, which went on sale yesterday, scores 1.5million on the Scoville scale, which measures the heat of peppers.
That makes it more than 400 times hotter than a jalapeno. It is being grown in Blunham, Bedfordshire.
Mirror Online’s social media editor Jo-Anne Rowney put it to the test.
“It was like I’d kissed a flaming torch,” she said. “Try it at your peril!”
