- BY PAUL KEANE

early in the second-half but failed to build on a four-point lead as Sligo shot 12 unanswered points before Antrim struck for a third goal in added time.

Antrim were sharper early on – Conor Murray landed two excellent points and the Ulster side led 0-3 to 0-2 by the 11th minute after a classy effort from Tomas McCann.

The home side gradually gained a foothold but were let down by poor shooting. They hit eight first-half wides before two cooly taken points from midfielder Patrick O’Connor saw them lead 0-7 to 0-6 at half-time.

Antrim, for whom

Murray (left) was a threat throughout, should have goaled at the end of the first-half but substitute Owen Gallagher sent a shot wide.

In a dramatic opening 10 minutes of the second-half Antrim goaled twice – CJ McGourty from a penalty and Matthew Fitzpatrick via a fortuitous lob – and they also had a player dismissed, Jack Dowling.
