‘Attacker broke noses of 2 cops’

A MAN of 35 has been charged with multiple counts of assault after three police officers were injured in an attack.

Two of the officers were left with broken noses and the third sustained serious facial injuries.

All three had to be treated in hospital following the attack in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, last week.

Superintendent Paul Milner said: “This was a serious incident and one that was distressing for a number of witnesses.”

Rory Kirkup, of South Shields, has been charged and will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
