HAMMERS TO BANG IN BID FOR £25M WAL

- BY STEVE STAMMERS and JOHN RICHARDSON

PAUL CLEMENT has a chance to take former Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber to Swansea.

The two know each other from Clement’s time as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at the Allianz Arena, and the Swans manager is a fan.

Germany international Badstuber (left), who can operate at left-back or in the centre of defence, spent 15 years at Bayern but his contract ends this month and he is keen to seek a new challenge.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Schalke after putting injury problems behind him and has plenty of admirers, with Manchester City linked with a move for him back in January. NOTTINGHAM FOREST striker Britt Assombalonga is a target for Burnley and Huddersfield.

The 24-year-old, who joined from Peterborough for around £5.5million in 2014, scored 14 goals in 33 appearances last term.

That has sparked plenty of interest in the DR Congo star from the two Premier League clubs.
