Keep talking

-

The situation in North Korea is growing more serious by the day.

The region is volatile enough without his incendiary rhetoric. Instead of the cool, calm language of serious international diplomacy, Mr Trump talks of “fire and fury” and his forces being “locked and loaded”.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is equally bullish and unwilling to back down.

The rogue state has made it clear that it is going to use its missile testing programme to push the patience of the US to its limit.

As the two nations eyeball each other across the world, billions of people are holding their breath, as the tension is ramped up further still.

Today, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is the latest figure to call for calm.

He says the safety and the sanity of the world are at stake. And he urges all sides to negotiate a diplomatic solution. Let’s hope a sensible, peaceful route out of this crisis can be found.

For all our sakes.
