FIRST STEPS Jonnie and Oti LUCKY Claudia Winkleman

HEAVENLY Debbie McGee was an absolute rocket. From the minute she stepped out, you knew it was something you didn’t want to miss a second of.

She had you transfixed. She pulled out five or six pirouettes. She shows that age isn’t going to a problem. And she gave us the second of two snogs in the show! Alexandra Burke’s dance was so emotional. We all know what she’s been through the past few weeks with her losing her mum, and that this was going to be tough.

The waltz was the perfect dance for her to be able to channel that emotion. She was exceptional. So controlled and expressive. Chizzy Akudolu really was a disco queen. She brought so much energy and sass.

The cha cha cha is a tough dance and the celebs all want to get it out of the way in week one. But

Chizzy did a great job. She was really cheeky with Pasha and you can really see her personality coming out. Her comedy quips are hilarious. I don’t want to critique any of the dancers in the first week. I know how tough it is for them and it no surprise there were a few mistakes. But new judge Shirley

Ballas did slip up.

After Joe’s dance she gave her score before she was asked. She needs to be a bit more patient with the paddle. But it was lovely to see how well she settled into the panel.
