HOO WANTS IT MOST

- BY CIARAN O RAGHALLAIGH

WES HOOLAHAN says Ireland are prepared to deliver another late, late show in Cardiff.

The Ireland midfielder was the man responsible for the last minute, inch-perfect cross on to Robbie Brady’s head in the Euro 2016 win over Italy last year, and knows just how much the team enjoys late drama.

Now, after dropping nine points in four qualifiers this year after previously looking like they’d storm Group D, they need a win on Monday to even have a hope of a playoff spot.

“It’s going to be up and down, you’re not going to go through the group with every game the same,” Hoolahan said.

“It’s like the last group in the Euros, when we beat Italy in the last five minutes to go through the group.

“We do normally leave it until the last minute so hopefully we can do it again.

“The atmosphere is going to be brilliant, you know, one or two mistakes and maybe we get a goal. It’s going to be really intense and all the boys are looking forward to it.”
