High Roller deal to build ‘ghost ships’
ROLLS-ROYCE has joined forces with tech giant Google to build navigation systems for futuristic unmanned “ghost ships”.
The British engineering firm will use Google’s cloud-based artificial intelligence software to guide the vessels.
The firm, best known for its aero engines, said the kit will also boost crew safety on existing ships by monitoring data systems such as radar.
The future of cargo shipping could be unmanned, and navies are also keen to develop the tech.
Rolls executive Karno Tenovuo said: “Intelligent awareness will help with an autonomous future.”
