Low-de-low! 30 Pontins staff fired for ‘gross misconduct’
THIRTY staff are up in arms after being sacked at a Pontins holiday camp for alleged gross misconduct.
They claim no one has detailed what they have done wrong at Pontins Camber Sands, in Sussex.
One said: “This comes after the end of the summer season. People are wondering if it’s a crafty way of laying us off but getting out of having to pay us money.” Another sacked worker said: “It is disgusting. Some were escorted from the park.”
Some staff have allegedly been told they had clocked in fraudulently to pocket pay for work not done. They all vehemently deny this.
A Pontins spokesman said: “After an investigation into allegations of fraud and theft of company property, we were left with no option but to terminate some staff ’s contracts.”
