PSNI APPEAL AFTER CRASH WOMAN DIES
Child fights for life while OAP airlifted in 2nd smash
POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a woman died following a road crash that also left a child critically injured.
The two-car collision took place on the main Belfast to Bangor road, close to Ballygilbert in Co Down, after 3pm on Friday.
The air ambulance was called to the scene and the road closed for a number of hours.
PSNI Insp Jonny Francie appealed for anyone with information on the smash, in which a van was also struck, to get in touch.
Meanwhile, a 50-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily injury following another crash in Co Down yesterday.
One person was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital with “significant injuries” after the collision on the Scarva Road, Banbridge.
Three other people also injured were taken to Craigavon Area Hospital. A PSNI spokesman said: “A woman aged in her 80s was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries which are described as serious but not lifethreatening at this time.
Several others were treated for minor injuries following the collision which occurred at around 11.30am and involved a black Seat Leon and a black Nissan Note.”
