Set for code red carpet

I was thrilled to be invited to the ITV gala this week but sighed when I saw the dress code was “red carpet”.

Because that means squeezing my ample flesh into a piece of clothing that is so tight, it’s difficult to walk in, sit in, even breathe in.

Why DO we women inflict such pain on ourselves?

But even though we moan about it, when we’ve made an effort with our hair and make-up and put a fancy dress on, it lifts our spirits.

It’s good to look in the mirror and think: “You know what, I ain’t that bad, I scrub up well when I have to.”

As they say, no pain, no gain.
