The other day I asked my six-year-old, Amara: “What do you think you’re go­ing to do when you’re older?”

She didn’t even pause to think be­fore rolling off: “I’m go­ing to wear sparkly nail var­nish, fairy dresses, eat choco­late for break­fast, lunch and din­ner, have a play­date ev­ery day with my friends and I’m go­ing to have a pet uni­corn – all the things you won’t let me do!”

With an imag­i­na­tion like that, I reckon she’s a dead cert for the 2037
