Xmas ad is a weepie

It’s be­come a tra­di­tion for many of us that Christ­mas starts with the John Lewis ad­vert launch, and what a treat they have given us this year.

Their story of a lit­tle boy (who couldn’t be cuter if he tried) and his friend­ship with a 7ft monster called Moz will melt your heart.

And if you are hor­monal like me, you start cry­ing as soon as you hear the open­ing bars of the fea­tured song, El­bow’s heart-warm­ing Golden Slum­bers.

Well done, John Lewis, for a mag­i­cal ad. And dou­ble well done for putting a mixed-race fam­ily at its cen­tre. It’s a state­ment of in­clu­sion and diversity with kind­ness at its heart.

A real MOZ see.
