Juve got to switch says Sami

- EXCLUSIVE BY SIMON MULLOCK

JUVENTUS have instructed German midfielder Sami Khedira to step up the club’s charm offensive for Liverpool contract rebel Emre Can during the international break.

The Turin giants have made Can a priority signing and the 23-year-old is available on a free next summer when his Anfield contract expires.

Sources in Italy say that Juve are now hoping to use the friendship between Khedira (inset) and Can to stake their claim for the midfielder’s signature.

Liverpool resisted Juventus’ bid to take Can to serie A last summer in the hope that they could persuade the former Bayern Munich star to pen a new deal.

And Jurgen Klopp has told the club that he would prefer to keep the player at Anfield rather than lose him for a nominal fee in January.

Can is only open to extending his stay on Merseyside if Liverpool chiefs agree to insert a buy-out clause in any new contract.
