All a-board at the farm Olympics!
THE children have been watching the Winter Olympics over half-term – then re-enacting it all outside in the snow.
There was a time for us when snowboarding just required a smooth hill that was steep enough for the boards to slide down while the rider remained upright.
Not easy when you’re not attached to it and wearing wellies.
I should explain they are not snowboards but waterskiing boards that Reuben, 13, bought for £1 at a car boot sale.
He got his money’s worth – attaching wheels and using them as skateboards before trying them in the snow.
But now, after seeing the Olympics, the kids
OUR LITTLE JOE-NY
have been seeking more challenging courses.
We had moguls in the form of frozen molehills and plenty of natural ramps that could send them airborne... as
Violet found out after being propelled into a shallow but icy pond.
Shrove Tuesday was a warmer affair as the chickens put in a top effort – enough eggs for us to make sweet and savoury pancakes.
I am pleased to report that Little Joe the pony is looking perkier after a few days of stable rest.
The children have been taking him for walks around the farm and through the house ...although I am not supposed to know that!
He must be feeling a whole lot better as I saw him rolling in the snow in a new rug which covers his ears – all watched by the laughing children.
Roll on summer, I say.
