Pep: I have 10-year plan

- EXCLUSIVE BY SIMON MULLOCK

PEP GUARDIOLA hopes to be around long enough to build a dynasty at Manchester City.

The 47-year-old Catalan has admitted he wants to be a manager for the next 10 years – and City are closing in on a deal

to extend his contract beyond 2019.

Guardiola is motivated by the opportunity to turn City into one of football’s biggest clubs.

In an interview with South American TV station Directv Sport, he said: “I have discovered that Manchester City is a much bigger club than people outside think it is.

“It does not have a history behind it at the level of titles – but it does have the desire to become winners. I do not rule out continuing to lead in 10 years. It will depend on how I feel and if they want me. It also depends on my family.

“I cannot live without my family. I will not go somewhere alone.”

City want Guardiola to commit for a further two years – taking him to 2021 – and are ready to make him the highest-paid manager in the world on a £20million-aseason basic salary.

But the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss could be around even longer after he revealed he wants to be in the game for the next decade.

Guardiola has put down roots after paying £2.7m for a luxury apartment in Salford. His wife Cristina and three children Valentina, Maria and Marius are settled and he is also a key investor alongside City executives Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano in a Catalan restaurant scheduled to open in Manchester this summer.
