Martin’s set to get aggressive with Dembele

- BY SCOTT McDERMOTT

RUSSELL MARTIN says he is ready to get aggressive with Celtic star Moussa Dembele at Parkhead today.

The Rangers defender was given the runaround by the French striker in the recent 4-0 Scottish Cup drubbing but says he is desperate to show that was a one-off.

The on-loan Norwich man stated: “I might only be here for a few more weeks but to play in another Old Firm game gives me the chance to atone for the last one.

“I’m looking forward to it. After the Hampden game people would think we wouldn’t want to see Celtic again this season.

“But it’s our chance to prove there was serious unhappiness and dissatisfaction at that performance.

“We can put that right for ourselves, the manager, the staff and the fans. It’s a real opportunity.

“If we didn’t have this chance, the 4-0 defeat would drag on to the first Old Firm game next season.

“So it’s as a positive we’re playing them again so soon.

“And being selfish, knowing I might not he back, I want to leave with am Old Firm victory. A lot of us might be experiencing their last Old Firm game. There could be a lot of changes this summer.

“So we must have the mentality that we’re going there to win and stop them winning the league.

“If we do that we would be remembered for a long time. We have to think like that.”

Martin has vowed to go into today’s duel with Dembele in a different manner.

He said: “This is a different game in terms of how we approach it, how we perform.

“We’ve spoken about Dembele and we’ll be approaching it differently this time.

“It wasn’t just one player, we had difficulties all over the pitch.

“Hopefully we’ll deal with it better this time and be more aggressive.”
