EX-England footie star Alex Scott is set to take a shot at Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Arsenal Ladies defender is lined up to show off her nifty footwork after rave reviews for her BBC World Cup commentary work this summer.

A source said: “The word is she has agreed to sign up which would be a fantastic deal for everyone – she ticks all the boxes.

“It’s just a case of narrowing people down to see if they are really up for it and there aren’t any commitments preventing them from going ahead.”

Alex, 33, is unlikely to be fazed by the pressure of Strictly as she has the show’s Sport Relief champion title under her belt.

It would be another success for the player – who won 140 caps for her country. World Cup fans described her as “knowledgeable”, “insightful” and “brilliant’ – and some even said she was the best TV pundit during the competition in Russia.

She had no trouble holding her own when sitting next to former footballers such as Manchester United’s Phil Neville and Chelsea’s Didier Drogba.

Insiders say they expect her to be a big hit on Strictly.

She would follow in the footsteps of other top female sports stars on the Saturday night hit show including Olympian Denise Lewis, World Cup colleague Gabby Logan and Wimbledon winner Martina Hingis.

Alex is one of the most successful English footballers. She started her career at Arsenal, joining the club as an eight-year- old before breaking into the first team in 2002. She won five Premier League titles and one Women’s Super League, as well as seven FA Cups.

Alex played for England between 2004 and 2017, scoring 12 goals, and also represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics, earning herself an MBE.

In this year’s Sport Relief special she competed against pundit Chris Kamara and ex-footie star David Ginola.

Their challenge was to perform a ballroom dance to New Order’s World Cup classic World in Motion, with the legendary John Barnes turning up to deliver his rap in the middle of the number.

Judge Darcey Bussell told her: “You’re looking gorgeous. That was a fabulous routine.”

Strictly would not comment.

The word is, she has signed up. She ticks all the boxes. STRICTLY INSIDER ON ALEX’S DANCE MOVE
